Bangla Muay Thai Stadium Closes on April 30, 2008

Donald Trump keyed the phrase, "Location, location, location." That was what Bangla Muay Thai stadium had and Tiger Muay Thai fighters entered the ring @ Bangla more than 150+ times in the stadiums short history. Once Patong's famous Shark Disco, the Shark became a home for new predators as it was converted into a Muay Thai stadium. It was rough transition. And Bangla Stadium had it's fair share of problems with seating, high prices, and always felt like you were sitting in a sauna.

There were some great fights at the stadium for TMT guests and fighter / trainers and there were also some fights easy to foreget as promoters seemed to care less about the competition level and more about how much money they could get from Muay Thai hungry tourists. Like it or not, bangla Muay Thai stadium is being turned back into a entertainment complex and another stadium, about a kilometer away is being built on Soi Tan. So the competition between Patong Stadium, whose only problem is bad location, and another Muay Thai stadium (yet to be named) will continue. Unfortunately, prices are not likely to change in pricey Patong, but we look forward to a better stadium, better seating, and hopefully, better competition.

Robert wins WMC Title as he dominates former Thai Champion

It was a grudge match. They had met twice before in Muay Thai fights and the battle stood at 1-1. But on April 29, 2008, Robert showed his dominance beating the WMC champion and taking his belt home to Tiger Muay Thai.

Robert started slow; measuring his opponent and with a strategy in mind. In the 3rd round, Robert shifted into another gear and opened a nasty cut on his opponents forehead and the blood began to flow. Robert went on to dominate the most important 4th and 5th rounds and win a unanimous decision on points to win the WMC World Thailand Championship.

Congratulations as, the "Terminator" is back and looking better than ever after dropping down 1 weight class. Robert has cut 5 kilo and looks absolutely ripped as he tears through his latest opponents.

Last week, Yodsanklai, WBC and Lumpinee Champion did his country proud by winning the newest reality show "Muay Thai Contender Asia" sponsored and produced by TV Mogul Mark Burnett and led by WMC V.P. Stephen Fox, one of the most important foreigners involved in the history of Muay Thai.

Tiger Muay Thai is proud to work with fighters from Muay Thai Contender as contender participant, Pitu Sans will be facing TMT's own Andreas Hessleback in an MMA fight (date to be determined) and TMT advanced trainer, Noppadech a Two-Time Lumpinee Champion has beaten Yodsanklai, winner of Contender Muay Thai, two-times in their battles @ Lumpinee Stadium.

Just when you thought it could not get nay bigger or better, TMT wil be adding not just one, but two new state of the art raning areas to the camp bringing the total rings to 6 and a new commons area for our guest to relax after and between training sessions.

TMT is signing a sponsorship deal with equipment manufacturer too build 2 new training facilites dedicated to our intermediate and beginners training programs. This added to Tiger Muay Thai and MMA's new MMA training facility with 8-meter MMA cage by Sinister Angel, USA maker of Cages for King of the Cage and 200 sq. meters of rolling mats.

In late June, look for TMT to add our new Kettlebell training weights and training routines. Also Thanks to TMT patron Mark McClain for his help with kettlebells and training e-book.

TMt will also be adding 20 new Hostel style rooms affordable for our guests on budgets and that want to train and not worry about money. Comfortable, clean, and at the camp. TMT leading the way in Thailand for Muay thai and MMA Training camps.

It is good to see some old faces back at the camp. Returning today after2 years is forner Head MMA Instructor, J.P. Pocock of the The Barn of Truth Dojo in Perrysville, Ohio, USA.

J.P is a 5th Dan Shingi-Tai Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt and the main student under former Olympic Team coach, John Saylor. J.P. now runs the "Fight Farm" teaches, trains, and fights MMA on his fight team. J.P. just completed managing the "Arnold Games" in Columbus, Ohio which is a huge Martial Arts and Sporting event.

J.P will be back at TMT for 5 weeks, this time to train, and conduct a seminar on MMA while Team MMA Thailand heads to the 2008 Pan Asian Grappling Games in Manilla, Phillipines.

J.P is a fantastic instructor known for his patience in instruction and explosiveness in the ring and his technical style of Japanese Jiu-Jitsu.

Muay Thai Champions deserve respect!!!

There is no insurance or 401 K for a Muay Thai fighter. Nor a pension fund after years of the same employment. Instead, Former Champion fighters, their bodies battered from years in the ring, have to take fights for little money (5000-8000) baht just to help pay their bills, feed their families, make a car or motorbike payment, etc.

Last night, one of our best fighters had to take a fight against a younger, stronger, bigger fighter to get paid. I would think after 300 fights and 22+ years experience in Muay Thai, promoters would offer some respect to a fighter of this calibre; a former Champion with a long list of honors, however, "promoters" simply look at the fighters like "easy money" rides. No respect. Just sacrifice the fighter for the sake of "the show."

I see it all the time. Big time fighters with lots of experience want to come to Thailand and are looking for fights with "former Champions" and an easy win or "look who I have beaten on my record." Good fighters coming to the Kingdom of Thailand and looking for "real" Muay thai fights, should be at Lumpinee, Rajadamnoen, Bangkok TV, Omnoy, or other major city stadiums for fights, not looking for fights against "semi-retired" Muay Thai fighters past their prime.

When Tiger Muay Thai has a fighter that has distinguished himself and proven his skill in the ring, we move that fighter on to more competitive fights in bigger stadiums, not the opposite and go looking for the "easy win."

It is about respect. Former Muay Thai Champions deserve this respect as the sport has grown in popularity with the popularity of MMA. They don't deserve to be served up like sides of beef by greedy promoters looking for that last drop of blood or payday on their former success and popularity. There is a long list of former Champions from Lumpinee, rajadamnoen, World and Thailand Champions, like Johmhod Kittdiasak that get promoted for their name, long since their skills have past.

Hear it from the cheap seats.

Women's Muay Thai Champion Nan wins at Kata Stadium, April 5, 2008

Nan continued her winning streak in Muay Thai as she took down foreigner, Miss T, in the "Grand Opening of the new Kata Muay Thai stadium in Phuket, Thailand. Nan ups her record to 16-5 and dominated the fight with her strong clinch and knee strikes.
Women's Muay Thai has become quite popular and Tiger Muay Thai and MMA Training camp has female Muay Thai fighters in the ring every month with most women's Muay Thai fighters coming from Sweden, Norway, and USA, and, of course, Thailand.
